Trained as a Clinical Psychologist and Family Therapist in Edinburgh before returning to Australia where she undertook further training in Marital Therapy, Gestalst Therapy, Mediation, Group work, Hypnotherapy and Buddhist Psychotherapy whilst working as a Clinical Psychologist.
Dale has worked eclectically for over twenty five years with a primary focus on Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy in her work with individuals experiencing mood problems, stress, and grief and relationship issues. Her focus is on helping individuals acquire the skills to manage their relationships successfully and to maintain a sense of harmony and satisfaction with their lives. Her goal is to intervene briefly in people’s lives. Therapy sessions usually range between four to twelve sessions though some clients are seen more regularly over one or two years where longer-term assistance is required.
Dale also works extensively with couples and has previously worked with Relationships Australia as a couple’s therapist, group leader and trainer in counselling skills. She has taught psychology to medical, dental and nursing students and to psychiatric trainees. She as co-led the men’s group run by Relationships Australia for men with problems of anger and control.
Dale is currently working full-time in Private Practice, dividing her time between Mosman and here in Paddington. Individuals eligible for the government supported Mental Health Plans can gain a rebate of approximately $124.50 per session for up to ten sessions per annum. The most common problems covered by MHP are panic and anxiety, depression and grief, alcohol and gambling, and eating disorders.
